About The Marketing Department (TMD)
The Marketing Department is a CMO-led creative marketing consultancy focused on serving real estate, hospitality, and innovation sectors primarily within the Miami market. Known for their proprietary breakthrough marketing methods and top-tier creative strategies, TMD emphasizes quality over volume and selectively partners with clients. This company is part of the Breakthrough Brands group, which also includes What's Good Miami and Sunshine Coffee.
Position Overview
TMD is seeking a Director of Operations to develop and lead the operational systems enabling the agency's growth. This role extends beyond project management and involves building a scalable business infrastructure from the ground up. The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in establishing businesses, particularly in agency or consultancy settings, and demonstrate strong fluency in AI and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain efficient operational rhythms including project management, client delivery, resource allocation, and reporting frameworks to support scalable execution as the team and client base expand.
- Manage financial operations encompassing client revenue tracking, engagement margins, utilization rates, and pricing discipline to ensure profitable delivery aligned with set prices.
- Design and implement scalable operational structures such as staffing models, workflows, and vendor/contractor networks aimed at achieving $3 million annual revenue with a 50% profit margin.
- Establish team and delegation structures that balance internal ownership, outsourcing, and automation to keep leadership focused on strategy and client relationships rather than daily operations.
- Collaborate with leadership to strategically manage the client portfolio by identifying anchor clients, showcase accounts, and growth opportunities.
- Enhance new business development processes by instituting rigorous sales pipeline management, proposal systems, contract terms, onboarding protocols, and ensuring timely closure of warm leads.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in founding or building operations within a business, comfortable navigating and creating processes while managing ongoing challenges.
- Preferably has B2B business-building experience, with insights into sales cycles, client retention, and margin management within services or consultancy sectors.
- Possesses P&L accountability or closely aligns thinking with ownership responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to scale teams effectively, focusing on capability development rather than solely increasing headcount.
- Dislikes unnecessary bureaucracy but implements sufficient structure to ensure consistent quality without reliance on individuals' memory.
- Strong operator mindset with enthusiasm for closing operational gaps and building robust systems beyond just theoretical strategy formulation.
- Financial acumen with confidence in handling margin, pricing, and forecasting dialogues.
- Clear and direct communication style without avoidance or dilution of issues.
- Maintains high standards with humility, motivated by creating infrastructure that enhances the work of others.
- Desires ownership equity in business outcomes beyond receiving basic compensation.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary
- Performance incentives linked to revenue and profitability targets
- Equity ownership in the company contingent on tenure and measurable business impact
Application Process
Applicants should provide a candid summary of the business they have built or helped grow, their specific responsibilities, and the outcomes on key financial metrics during their tenure. Formal cover letters are discouraged in favor of straightforward accounts.
