Director of Operations

Role summary

This senior leadership role is focused on owning end-to-end operations for a company serving global clients with advanced quantitative trading, risk management, and digital asset offerings. The Operations Director will partner closely with the CEO, COO, and department heads to strengthen execution, streamline business processes, and improve organizational performance.

The position is based in the Greater Munich Metropolitan Area, with flexibility depending on business requirements in an international office setting.

Core responsibilities

• Create and roll out operational plans that support the company’s broader growth strategy.
• Set up strong operating frameworks, standardized workflows, and management policies.
• Convert strategic objectives into measurable operational targets and execution roadmaps.
• Improve efficiency across the organization by optimizing resources and operating models.
• Lead trading operations, customer service operations, product operations, and back-office support.
• Track KPIs and service standards to maintain and improve operational performance.
• Refine customer lifecycle processes to raise satisfaction and retention.
• Drive digitization and automation across operational workflows.
• Coordinate closely with product, technology, marketing, risk, compliance, and finance teams.
• Build effective communication and project-delivery routines across departments.
• Ensure major initiatives and strategic projects are completed on time.
• Continuously improve business processes and internal controls.
• Develop and maintain an operational risk management framework.
• Work with compliance and risk teams so operations remain aligned with regulatory expectations.
• Spot operational risks early and implement mitigation measures.
• Put in place an operations data analysis system and deliver regular business reports to leadership.
• Use data to guide decisions that improve efficiency and profitability.
• Support ongoing improvement in key business metrics.
• Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing operations team.
• Create growth plans, talent development paths, and performance/incentive systems.
• Promote a culture that is positive, efficient, and results driven.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher is required; a background in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, Economics, Management, or a related field is preferred.
• MBA or EMBA is preferred.
• At least 15 years of experience in corporate operations management.
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading teams.
• Prior experience in a leadership role such as Operations Director, Senior Operations Manager, Head of Operations, Business Operations Director, COO, or Regional Operations Director.
• Experience in financial services, digital assets, FinTech, internet platforms, or exchange businesses is preferred.
• Background in fast-growing or international organizations is preferred.
• Experience managing cross-regional and multi-team operations is preferred.
• Exposure to corporate digital transformation projects is preferred.
• Strong ability to design and improve operational systems and business processes.
• Proven project management, KPI/OKR, and performance management capability.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with ERP, CRM, and data analysis tools.
• Working knowledge of risk management and internal control systems.
• Fluent business-level English is required.
• Spanish, Chinese, or another international language is an advantage.
• Ideal profile includes experience managing operations teams of 50+ people and working in fintech, digital assets, or trading platform environments.

Compensation and benefits

• Indicative base salary of USD 120,000 to USD 220,000+ per year.
