Job description
Role Overview
You will lead the Legal Advisory department of the company, delivering comprehensive legal counsel to management and various departments. Your duties will cover legal governance, operational and strategic advice, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, litigation handling, internal investigations, and safeguarding the company's interests in line with relevant laws and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Head the Legal Advisory section, managing daily legal support tasks.
- Offer expert legal advice on operational, strategic, regulatory, commercial, and governance issues.
- Collaborate across related sections within the department as necessary or directed.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and provide counsel on contracts, agreements, memorandums of understanding, partnerships, and other legal documents.
- Support major projects and strategic initiatives from a legal risk and compliance standpoint.
- Advise leadership on legal consequences, responsibilities, and risk exposure linked to the company’s decisions and activities.
- Ensure company practices comply with all applicable laws, regulations, directives, and governance requirements.
- Manage engagement with external legal counsel and oversee quality control of outsourced legal services.
- Provide legal assistance concerning Board and Committee proceedings when needed.
- Assist in managing disputes, claims, investigations, and legal notices affecting the company.
- Help develop and refine legal processes, templates, controls, and contracting frameworks.
- Promote legal knowledge and support good governance principles within the organization.
- Coordinate with departments to guarantee timely legal support for projects and operations.
- Prepare management reports, legal summaries, and updates as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is required; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Possess 10 to 15 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years in a leadership role in the legal field.
- Experience in a related sector is preferred.
Professional Credentials
Professional and academic qualifications in relevant legal fields are preferable.
