Role Overview

The Director of Information Technology at Sonoma Valley Hospital (SVH) acts as the senior technology leader responsible for crafting and implementing a strategic IT roadmap that supports SVH's clinical, operational, and business goals. This leadership role collaborates closely with UCSF Health IT to capitalize on enterprise standards, capabilities, and scalability. Reporting both to the UCSF VP and Health CIO as well as the Sonoma Valley Hospital CEO, this position drives innovation, ensures a secure and robust IT environment, and promotes IT as a strategic partner within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily IT operational decisions and prioritize IT team objectives to meet organizational goals.
  • Oversee the performance management and skill development of the SVH IT team, including coaching and staff transitions.
  • Monitor IT operations and project status, recommending enhancements and new systems when needed.
  • Organize and coordinate IT governance materials and meetings at the local level, and participate in UCSF Health IT governance to ensure alignment.
  • Assess user needs to identify and address gaps in client training and IT services.
  • Assign responsibilities related to IT vendor management, including contracting, acquisition, and payment processes.
  • Adopt UCSF IT best practices to maintain excellence, such as end-user security awareness training.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to SVH leaders on IT issues and engage UCSF and SVH teams as appropriate.
  • Keep senior leadership informed on major IT operational matters.
