About the Company
The opportunity is with a profitable, self-funded US-based direct-to-consumer craft brand that has empowered over one million individuals to learn crochet since 2020. The company operates a lean, fully remote team with no external investors. It is known for rapid progress, frequent product shipments, and is aspiring to become a highly recognizable, beloved brand.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Head of Marketing, this role is pivotal in owning and optimizing the entire e-commerce platform of a nine-figure business, with complete operational freedom and minimal bureaucracy.
Responsibilities
- Drive the site’s conversion rate strategy, carefully balancing average order value, profit margins, and customer experience.
- Oversee the entire site merchandising process, including how products are displayed on landing pages, navigation, category collections, product detail pages, promotional offers, and during product launches.
- Develop and implement comprehensive testing roadmaps based on detailed analysis of session recordings, customer feedback, sales data, and experimentation to enhance purchasing behavior.
- Manage the Shopify platform roadmap, encompassing feature development, site upkeep, customer account experience enhancements, and SEO initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Acquisition, Brand, Retention, Product, and Operations teams, leveraging customer insights and sales analytics to guide launch volumes, promotional scheduling, and merchandising focus.
- Lead a team comprising an in-house Shopify developer as well as external agencies and freelancers.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven leadership experience in e-commerce, preferably within high-revenue (nine-figure) direct-to-consumer brands.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems independently without heavy reliance on large teams.
- Expertise in conversion rate optimization, with a strong grasp of diagnosing issues related to offers, positioning, merchandising strategies, user experience hurdles, site performance, traffic quality, and technical constraints, alongside actionable solutions.
- A merchant-focused mindset, skilled in prioritizing key products, streamlining customer options, and deploying promotions to maximize both customer satisfaction and business outcomes.
- Strong humility paired with high-performance standards; comfortable giving and receiving feedback and thriving in environments characterized by autonomy and ambiguity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experienced managers demonstrating potential to step into a director-level position will also be considered.
- Familiarity with hands-on Shopify development is advantageous.
