About the Role
Join BAM UK & Ireland as a Design Coordinator based in Carlow, Ireland, contributing to projects that positively impact communities. You will work closely with BAM’s Design & Build Design Team and other stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination and compliance throughout the design and construction process.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate purposefully with the Design & Build Design Team (DT) and related parties.
- Prepare and submit Material Test Submissions (MTS), known as "RDD", to the Department of Education and related technical assessors.
- Ensure compliance of all MTS and Test Submissions (TS) with the Government Workplace Regulations (GWR), Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Regulations (SSWR), and contractual documents.
- Oversee issuance of Design Submissions and Designer Checklists to technical teams via the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) Common Data Environment (CDE).
- Manage, attend, and record site Benchmark Mockups and First of a Kind (FoK) inspections, including documentation of attendance and photographic evidence, uploading reports to the CDE.
- Verify subcontractors’ and suppliers’ documentation such as Declarations of Performance (DOPs) and CE markings are current and accurate.
- Complete design-related sections of bi-weekly Contractors Progress reports, including details on design submissions, MTS, and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Coordinate design development through all project phases from concept to construction.
- Lead and facilitate design team meetings efficiently.
- Supervise the design of façade systems including curtain walling, cladding, glazing, and brickwork from initial concepts to construction detailing.
- Manage the flow of design information through Autodesk platforms and ensure timely communication.
- Collaborate with mechanical & electrical, structural, and architectural designers to resolve design clashes and technical concerns early in the process.
- Track and manage design submissions, RFIs, and approvals to comply with project schedules.
- Organize mock-ups, sample panels, and material selection processes in conjunction with architects and clients.
- Apply strong expertise in Irish Building Regulations, BCAR (Building Control Amendment Regulations), and relevant façade standards.

Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong people management and interpersonal communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities
- Experience working within highly regulated environments
- Keen attention to detail with the ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Exceptional organizational skills
Desired Experience:
- Previous on-site experience in design management, site management, or project management
- Engineering degree and/or experience functioning as a site or senior engineer
- Exposure to medium to large-scale construction projects
- Understanding of construction methodologies
- Familiarity with web-based contract communication tools
- Certification such as Safe Pass and Manual Handling training
