Role Overview

This position as a Design Coordinator based in County Donegal involves working closely with BAM’s Design & Build Design Team along with other collaborators to manage design workflows, submissions, and compliance across project stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate effectively with the Design & Build’s Design Team and other stakeholders to deliver project requirements.
  • Prepare and submit Method Statements (MTS) such as RDDs to the client and technical assessors, ensuring compliance with Government and contract standards.
  • Supervise the issuance of Design Submissions and related checklists via Autodesk Collaborative Construction Environment (ACC) Common Data Environment (CDE).
  • Organize and attend site Benchmark Mockups and First of a Kind (FoK) reviews, maintaining records including attendance and photographic documentation.
  • Verify subcontractor Method Statements have necessary certifications like Declaration of Performance (DOP) and CE markings.
  • Contribute to bi-weekly Contractors Progress Reports focusing on design elements such as submissions and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Manage design development stages from concept through construction, chairing design team meetings.
  • Oversee façades design (curtain walls, cladding, glazing, brickwork) from initial concepts to detailed construction documentation.
  • Use Autodesk software to track and manage information flow, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design clashes early, and ensure alignment with project timelines.
  • Coordinate mock-ups, sample panels, and select materials in collaboration with architects and clients.
  • Apply thorough knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, BCAR requirements, and façade standards throughout project execution.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills for effective teamwork and communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus AutoCAD for technical tasks.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Experience operating within highly regulated construction environments requiring attention to detail.
  • Ability to correctly interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational aptitude to handle multiple aspects of the design process smoothly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous hands-on site experience in design or project management roles, preferably with an engineering degree.
  • Background in managing or working as senior engineer or site manager on medium to large-scale construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction techniques and web-based contract communication tools.
  • Certifications such as Safe Pass and manual handling training are advantageous.
