Overview
Join Calgary Co-op as a Deli Utility Clerk and become part of a team that values pride, ownership, mutual respect, and community care. This role is pivotal in maintaining a safe, efficient deli operation that adheres to company standards and policies while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consistent and friendly customer service by addressing inquiries, feedback, requests, and resolving complaints in a diverse team setting.
- Manage all deli utility tasks including organizing and stocking product displays effectively to maintain presentation and inventory.
- Handle merchandise with care to maintain quality, reduce damage, manage markdowns and ensure accurate pricing including substitutions.
- Maintain cleanliness by performing duties such as cleaning spills, display fixtures, and disposing of garbage to keep the sales floor and back stock areas tidy.
- Follow established guidelines concerning Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations to ensure safety for staff and customers.
- Use and care for deli equipment properly while reporting maintenance needs to supervisors or managers.
- Oversee ordering of deli products and supplies and take charge of receiving duties, including verification of invoices and proper storage.
- Support inventory management tasks as required.
- Comply with Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission rules when working in licensed stores.
- Prepare deli platters and trays, operate roasters, and if applicable, manage cash handling and till operations.
- Assist with customer service and food preparation duties in bistro locations when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Completed Grade 9 education or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in bakery, deli, or related retail environments.
- Must be 18 years or older for liquor-related product handling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in English.
- Experience and knowledge of deli products.
- Successful completion and ongoing maintenance of Foodwise #14 certification.
- Pro Serve certification (where applicable).
- Cashier training within probation or trial periods (where relevant).
