Position Overview
As a Data Scientist within our core Data Science team, you will passionately develop models that reinforce our leadership in the Fashion and Lifestyle industry as a truly global omnichannel department store.
Key Responsibilities
- Advance and develop digital products enhancing analytics and driving long-term customer relationship improvements.
- Contribute actively to the development of business processes, collaborating to design data science tools with partners.
- Guide your products from conceptualization through to implementation.
- Engage in professional knowledge exchange with fellow data scientists at Breuninger.
Qualifications
- Degree in a numerically and data-oriented discipline such as Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis and confident handling of complex database queries using SQL; experience with Google BigQuery is advantageous.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks like XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost, Scikit-learn, or deep learning libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX; experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS) preferred.
- Knowledge or willingness to integrate modern AI coding assistants and workflows into daily tasks.
- Comfortable with agile methodologies and adapting swiftly to new requirements.
- Driven to find optimal solutions, exceeding the expectations of both internal and external customers.
- Fluent English communication skills; German language skills are desirable.
Team and Work Environment
You will join a dedicated team of eight members characterized by a friendly and open culture. Remote collaboration is common and enjoyable, with frequent in-person meetings fostering camaraderie. The team is part of the Data Platform Services area, working closely with data engineers, modelers, and cloud engineers to harness the value of company data in a cloud-based environment.
