Job Overview
The Data Entry Operator will play a vital role in maintaining accurate healthcare records, ensuring data is correctly entered, updated, and verified across patient files, medical documents, and administrative databases. This position demands a detail-focused individual who can handle confidential information with sensitivity and adhere to healthcare data compliance standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Input patient details, medical records, lab reports, insurance information, and other healthcare documentation into electronic systems with precision.
- Keep healthcare databases current by verifying and updating information meticulously.
- Check source documents for completeness and accuracy before data entry.
- Manage patient registration files and other administrative paperwork efficiently.
- Ensure integrity of electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) by regular maintenance.
- Organize, scan, file, and archive healthcare documents properly.
- Generate and retrieve healthcare reports upon request.
- Conduct routine validation and quality audits of database entries to minimize errors.
- Safeguard sensitive patient data in compliance with privacy laws and company guidelines.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals and admin staff to address any data irregularities.
- Support insurance processing by preparing billing-related data entries.
- Create spreadsheets, statistical reports, and documentation utilizing Microsoft Excel.
- Maintain digital record systems for easy access and management.
- Assist hospital administration with clerical and supporting tasks.
- Achieve daily targets for productivity, quality, and accuracy.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent; degrees in Business or Healthcare Administration or Health Information Management are beneficial.
- Prior experience in data entry roles such as Medical Data Entry Operator, Records Clerk, or Administrative Assistant within medical or healthcare settings is preferred.
- Strong typing skills paired with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR or Hospital Information Systems is an advantage.
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
- Fluent in written and verbal English communication.
- Ability to work autonomously while maintaining confidentiality.
