Role overview
This position sits with Barclays and is being coordinated through hackajob. The role is based in Gurugram, Haryana, India, and focuses on using data and analytics to uncover the drivers behind customer complaints across BUK, including cases escalated to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).
You will carry out detailed investigations into complaint patterns, root causes, and overturns to identify recurring issues and support better customer outcomes. The role also involves turning RCA and FOS findings into practical change recommendations, assessing whether actions are effective, and making sure all work aligns with DISP and FCA requirements.
Working closely with Product, Journey, Channel, and Operations teams, you will help embed insight-led improvements, monitor their impact, and support scaling successful initiatives.
Purpose of the role
The job exists to support strategic and operational decisions through data. You will extract meaningful insights from large datasets, use statistical and advanced analytics to find trends and patterns, and communicate findings through clear visuals and reports.
Key responsibilities

- Design and build data pipelines that automate movement and processing of data.
- Use advanced analytics on large datasets to identify trends and relationships, build validated logical data models, and turn insights into business actions, including use of machine learning and AI where relevant.
- Convert analytical outputs into recommendations that improve operations and business processes.
- Create interactive dashboards and visual reports, and automate recurring as well as ad hoc reporting for stakeholder needs.
- Work across Product, Journey, Channel, and Operations teams to support and evaluate improvement initiatives.
- Challenge the effectiveness of actions already taken and help strengthen future interventions.
Required experience and skills
- Proven ability to perform deep-dive analysis and convert insights into change.
- Hands-on experience with root cause analysis.
- Experience managing escalations.
- Strong collaboration skills across varied stakeholder groups.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Confident data-led problem solving and decision making.
- Technical capability in SQL, Python, modelling, and visualisation tools such as Tableau.
- Strong understanding of control, governance, and risk principles.
Preferred skills
- Exposure to applying AI and machine learning to speed up insight generation.
- Understanding of Agile working methods.
- Experience in large organisations and matrix structures.
- Ability to influence and drive change across multiple teams.
Analyst expectations
- Provide specialist advice and support to stakeholders and customers.
- Deliver assigned work accurately and on time, with impact on related roles and teams.
- Own specific processes within the team and contribute to broader projects where required.
- May supervise or coordinate work, allocate tasks, and support colleague development if leadership responsibilities are assigned.
- For people leaders, demonstrate the LEAD behaviours: Listen and be authentic, Energise and inspire, Align across the enterprise, and Develop others.
- For individual contributors, manage your own workload and help implement systems and processes within your area.
- Collaborate with closely related teams and check peer work to ensure internal and stakeholder requirements are met.
- Take responsibility for managing risk and improving controls in line with applicable rules, regulations, and codes of conduct.
- Build understanding of how teams contribute to wider sub-function goals and continue developing your knowledge of core principles and practices.
- Use judgement based on prior experience, especially where procedures do not cover a situation.
- Handle sensitive or difficult customer communication when needed.
- Develop strong stakeholder relationships and respond to their needs effectively.
