Job Overview
The Custodian is tasked with maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of designated areas, adhering strictly to safety and company protocols.
Primary Responsibilities
- Carry out janitorial duties and complete all tasks listed on the daily schedule.
- Manage hazardous waste responsibilities, which include collecting, sorting, classifying, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of both special and hazardous waste materials.
- Operate motorized cleaning equipment competently and ensure daily upkeep of assigned zones.
- Report any incidents or hazardous situations to supervisors promptly.
- Comply with all safety regulations, policies, and procedures, intervening to halt risky behaviors when observed.
- Work collaboratively in a team setting with other employees and fill in during staff shortages as needed.
- Support shift leads by completing punch-list items, maintain a tidy workspace, and wear proper personal protective equipment.
- Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers, upholding a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
- Understand and prioritize customer service, satisfaction, reporting systems, and environmental concerns.
Qualifications
Applicants should have 3 to 6 months of relevant training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Specific educational credentials are not mandatory.
Possession of a valid driver’s license may be necessary. Completion of all safety and task-related certifications is required. Forklift certification might be required based on job assignments.
Bilingual abilities are advantageous. Candidates should be able to comprehend and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents effectively.
Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. Familiarity with cleaning techniques, equipment upkeep, and safe usage of cleaning chemicals is expected.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Employees must occasionally sit, talk, and listen, and be physically able to lift or move items weighing up to 35 pounds.
- The workplace environment exposes employees to typical cleaning and maintenance conditions.
Work Schedule and Compensation
The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with working hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Hourly wages range between $13.00 and $14.00 per hour.
