Role Overview
Mad Realities is seeking a resourceful and highly imaginative Creative Producer to help build and run one of its original series. The role focuses on shaping episode ideas, producing shoots, and protecting the show’s comedic tone and visual style.
What You’ll Own
- Lead the full production lifecycle for one ongoing series, covering pre-production, shoot execution, and post-production.
- Coordinate and guide a small existing team that includes on-screen talent, production staff, editors, and designers.
- Keep the series at a consistently high standard from planning through final delivery.
- Make sure all required releases are completed and signed.
- Work within agreed budget limits.
- Produce episodes in the current series format, which runs under 90 seconds per episode.
- Act as the on-set director and own the creative direction during shoots.
- Design and present story ideas and topics that can grow and strengthen the series over time.
- Create and pitch branded integration ideas for episodes.
- Adapt quickly when working with real people, unscripted moments, and authentic environments.
- Protect and expand the established brand identity, tone, and voice of the show.
- Build on the existing art direction and the series’ tonal and purpose-driven pillars.
- Suggest creative ways to evolve and broaden those pillars.
- Stay current on video production methods, platform trends, and digital content best practices.
- Review feedback from the team and apply it to improve the quality of the output.
- Handle several shoots at once while meeting fast turnaround deadlines.
- Bonus: be able to make basic edit revisions yourself in Adobe Premiere.
Qualifications
This position calls for someone with strong short-form storytelling instincts, proven production experience, and the ability to work comfortably in fast-paced digital media environments.
Contract Details
- The role reports to Clare Naughton, Director of Operations & Production.
- Compensation is structured as a weekly retainer that covers pre-production, production, and post-production.
- The workload typically averages two episodes per shoot and one to two shoots per week.
- The credited roles for this position are Producer and Director.
- In-person presence in New York City is required one to two days per week for on-set work.
