Role overview
Wilmar Sugar Australia Limited is hiring a permanent Crushing Assistant for its Kalamia Mill site in the Burdekin Region, Ayr, Queensland. This is a hands-on position within a sugar processing facility.
The role follows a shift pattern during the crushing season, which includes weekend work and overtime. During the maintenance period, the work pattern shifts to daytime hours.
What the job involves
In this position, you will support the milling train by operating turbines and keeping a close watch on the condition and performance of shredders, alternators, and related equipment.

- Communicate clearly and effectively.
- Provide Operations Coordinators with timely and accurate updates on station performance and quality concerns.
Training and licence requirements
Wilmar is open to training candidates who show the right attitude and fit for the team, even where some qualifications are not already held.
- Turbine High Risk Work Licence.
- Working at Heights ticket.
- Confined Space ticket.
Desirable experience and qualifications
- Front End Loader ticket.
- Overhead Crane ticket.
- Maintenance capability, including trade qualifications, rigging, dogging, or scaffolding licences.
