Position Responsibilities
- Work with the District Commander and the central Crimewatch office to organize, guide, and encourage citizens involved in crime-prevention programs; review program results and adjust activities when needed, with Commander approval.
- Plan and run Crimewatch block club meetings, give talks on crime-prevention methods, explain public and private support services, suggest practical solutions, and keep club records current so groups remain active.
- Present information to neighborhood and community groups about how to prevent victimization and where to find help through the Crimewatch Office, IMPD, and related agencies.
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders and members to shape effective program plans and serve as a point of contact for Crimewatch activities and upcoming initiatives.
- Coordinate with police personnel and other agencies, including the Prosecutor’s Office, to support victims when needed; serve as a liaison between the public and outside organizations; prepare activity summaries for the Commander and central Crimewatch office, including trends, meetings, travel, mileage, and future plans.
