Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contracts Engineer to join our team in Ras Laffan, Qatar, within the EPC and Oil & Gas sector. This permanent role involves providing comprehensive contract support across management and project teams, focusing on developing, reviewing, and administering contracts, subcontracts, and supplier agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and manage contracts and change orders related to EPC, oil & gas, and other projects.
  • Assist management in managing major change orders, claims, and negotiations effectively.
  • Prepare, revise, and edit contracts for clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Examine and negotiate claims and change order requests from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct thorough contract analysis to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Create clear summaries of critical contractual clauses for ease of reference.
  • Monitor adherence of subcontractors and suppliers to contractual obligations.
  • Support project teams in drafting general contractual correspondence.
  • Oversee daily contract administration and reporting on claim and variation progress.
  • Address contract breaches promptly and efficiently.

Risk Management

  • Perform detailed risk assessments during different phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.

Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and quality, health, safety, security, and environmental standards within contracts to maintain employee safety and high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, or a related discipline.
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience working on Oil & Gas EPC projects.
  • Proven track record as a Contracts Engineer or in a similar role within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law principles and risk management techniques.
  • Excellent negotiation aptitude and keen attention to detail.

Preferred Credentials

  • Certification as a CPCM (Certified Professional Contract Manager) or CCM (Contract & Commercial Management).
  • Extensive experience in Contracts Administration within EPIC (Engineering, Procurement, Installation, and Commissioning), Shutdown, and Manpower Supply settings.
