Job description

Position Overview

This role involves performing thorough vehicle inspections to evaluate overall condition, supporting the processing and sale of client vehicles both on-site and online.

Key Responsibilities

  • Confirm vehicle identification details accurately.
  • Update vehicle information such as Year, Make, Model, and Trim Lines.
  • Inspect all vehicle equipment, options, interiors, tires, and mechanical parts.
  • Record and estimate damage to vehicles comprehensively.
  • Capture photographs to accompany reports and for sales events as needed.
  • Relocate vehicles within the lot and position them as required.
  • Verify and document odometer readings.
  • Evaluate frame and unibody condition, noting any damage.
  • Assess mechanical aspects and report any issues during inspections.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Proficiency in using computers, laptops, or tablets (preference for iPad use).
  • Strong professional report-writing skills.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics and systems.
  • Capability to apply standardized damage cost lists effectively.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Additional training in damage assessment is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in automotive repair cost estimation is an advantage.

Skills and Abilities

  • Willingness and ability to learn job-specific computer applications.
  • Competence in digital photography of vehicles and uploading images to computer systems.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and managing priorities.
  • Prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, reach, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and carry out tasks requiring these movements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to drive manual and automatic vehicles.
  • Willingness to inspect vehicle frames from underneath.
