Role Overview
Join as a Compliance Officer dedicated to protecting the environment and community in South Auckland. This role offers a blend of fieldwork and office duties focused on ensuring adherence to legislation including the Resource Management Act, Building Act, and relevant Bylaws. Responsibilities include conducting investigations, resolving breaches, overseeing remediation, and enforcing compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a multi-disciplinary compliance response service addressing violations and enforcement in the South Auckland region.
- Conduct field inspections and office-based activities to assess and support compliance.
- Engage with customers to guide them toward meeting legal and regulatory standards effectively.
- Participate in after-hours on-call duties as needed.
Candidate Profile
- Possess strong professionalism and confidence as the public-facing representative of the organisation.
- Bring prior experience of at least two years in regulatory compliance, law enforcement, investigations, or a related governmental field.
- Demonstrate advanced communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey legislative requirements and engage the community.
- Exhibit problem-solving ability with expertise in negotiation, conflict resolution, risk evaluation, and de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain composure and curiosity under pressure while managing public interactions sensitively.
- Hold a relevant tertiary qualification such as Compliance, Risk Management, Law, or Resource Management and a current New Zealand driver’s license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other digital management tools is expected.
Working Conditions and Benefits
- This requires a permanent full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call work.
- The office base is in Manukau, serving South Auckland.
- Salary ranges between $78,311 and $92,130 annually, inclusive of KiwiSaver and other benefits.
