About the Role
We are looking for a highly imaginative and meticulous Color & Print Designer who will lead the direction for seasonal color schemes and print creations across diverse product lines such as blankets, sleepwear, and accessories. This role is essential in crafting the brand's visual identity through innovative color themes, unique patterns, and seasonally relevant concepts that resonate commercially.
The ideal candidate excels in a dynamic direct-to-consumer (DTC) setting and possesses the ability to convert trends, consumer insights, and brand essence into scalable artwork and color narratives primed for production. The position is located in New York City, requiring minimal travel for product assessments and approvals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop season-specific color palettes and print directions that align with brand strategy and assortment planning.
- Create digital mood boards, inspirational presentations, and trend research to support seasonal concept evaluations.
- Collaborate extensively with the Product team to maintain cohesive and brand-consistent color stories across all categories.
- Design original prints and patterns for main collections and collaborative projects.
- Create multiple color variations and scales to fulfill merchandising needs and meet margin goals.
- Prepare production-ready artwork files ensuring technical precision and repeat accuracy for vendor delivery.
- Oversee lab dip and print strike-off procedures, evaluating submissions for tone, saturation, scale, and texture accuracy.
- Provide vendors with precise feedback to guarantee uniformity in color and print quality.
- Maintain color standards and supervise approvals during color trials and pre-production phases.
- Work closely with Design, Merchandising, and Product Development teams to synchronize creative direction with business objectives.
- Support internal product storytelling and generate visual materials for reviews and launch planning.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience at a fast-growing DTC apparel or home brand in roles such as Associate Designer or Designer.
- A robust portfolio showcasing print design, color storytelling, and execution across multiple categories.
- Thorough knowledge of textile printing methods and production workflows from concept through manufacturing, including lab dips and strike-offs.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) alongside experience using AI-driven design tools to streamline idea generation and refinement.
- Strong skills in repeat pattern layouts, scale adjustments, and color separations tailored for production demands.
- Excellent organizational and project management capabilities, adept at managing several seasonal timelines simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, or a related discipline.
Compensation
Annual salary is set within the range of $90,000 to $120,000.
