Job description

Role Overview

Ambulance Victoria is committed to delivering exceptional care to patients and improving health outcomes across Victoria. As part of this mission, the organization is recruiting Clinic Transport Officers (CTOs) for permanent full-time and fixed-term roles based in multiple metropolitan Melbourne locations. Successful candidates will participate in a mandatory four-week induction starting Monday, 9 November 2026.

Locations

  • Permanent full-time: Bayside
  • Fixed-term (until May 2028): Sunshine, Essendon Fields, Sunbury, Craigieburn, Preston, Heatherton

Key Duties

  • Transport patients safely and respectfully pre- and post-hospital, including walking and wheelchair patients.
  • Respond promptly to assigned cases, supporting efficient transport services.
  • Accurately complete patient care documentation as per regulatory standards.
  • Operate vehicles safely and maintain equipment and vehicles according to Ambulance Victoria policies.
  • Provide professional patient handovers and maintain effective communication with patients, healthcare staff, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure workplace safety by adhering strictly to policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Working Schedule

Shifts operate Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 8:00pm, with 10-hour shifts, including one weekend shift every three weeks.

Candidate Qualifications and Experience

  • Completed Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient Transport or equivalent ambulance qualifications (e.g., Qualified Ambulance Paramedic, Diploma of Emergency Health Care, Bachelor of Health Science, Paramedicine Degree).
  • Current Victorian Driver Licence.
  • Desirable: at least 100 hours of on-road clinical experience accrued within the past two years.
  • Familiarity with Scope of Practice, Clinical Practice Guidelines, and regulatory standards relevant to the Clinic Transport Officer role.

Additional Candidate Requirements

  • Must have unrestricted and valid Australian work rights.
  • Ability to drive and operate any Ambulance Victoria operational fleet vehicles.
  • Reside within a 45–60-minute commute of the work site to support fatigue management.
  • Successful candidates will complete pre-employment screening including reference, misconduct, and police checks.
