Chockfast Technician

Role Overview

Goltens Worldwide is hiring a Chockfast Technician in Singapore for its Chockfast Department. The role reports to the Business Manager – Chockfast and involves field and workshop duties across Singapore and nearby countries.

What You Will Do

• Carry out chocking work for engines, stern tubes, and deck machinery on vessels and installations in Singapore and neighbouring countries.
• Apply Phillycald 1775/620TS and Devcon products as required.
• Handle customer interaction while working at off-site locations.
• Read technical drawings and related documents to identify the right repair parts and work methods.
• Inspect completed work and verify that the repair has been carried out successfully.
• Work from blueprints and similar technical documents.
• Keep the work area tidy and well organised each day.
• Perform daily preventive maintenance on machine tools.
• Arrange and store machining fixtures so they can be reused later.
• Support the Foreman in completing the assigned scope within the given timeline and carry out self-checks on finished pieces.
• Plan work effectively, manage time well, and coordinate all parts of the assigned job under guidance from the Supervisor or Manager.
• Follow safe working practices and ensure all prescribed protective equipment is used, in line with applicable OSHA requirements for yourself and mechanical technicians.
• Prioritise the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues and comply with the company’s environment, health and safety policy.
• Take on other tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

• ITE certificate or O’ Level qualification is required.
• Technical understanding and practical know-how are necessary.
• Must be comfortable working under pressure.
• Should be able to work independently, professionally, and efficiently.
• Needs to be quality-focused and able to meet productivity targets.
• Must be physically fit, hardworking, and proactive.
• Willingness to travel overseas is required.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills are important.
• Experience or familiarity with the marine or shipbuilding industry is needed.
