Descrizione del lavoro
Role overview
This is an opportunity to join a profitable, rapidly expanding fulfilment and logistics company that supports premium consumer brands through a network of sites in Ireland and the UK. The business is founder-led, has delivered strong year-on-year growth, and is now focused on creating an operations platform that can scale independently of the founders’ daily involvement. The company is hiring its first Chief Operating Officer to lead that evolution.
Scope of the role
From the outset, the COO will own the core operating engine across the business and will work directly with the founders and leadership team. The role will influence strategy for the network, including decisions around consolidating facilities and expanding capacity.
- Oversee multi-site warehouse and fulfilment activity across Ireland and the UK, including labour planning, capacity management and carrier coordination.
- Lead the end-to-end client journey after contract signature, including onboarding and ongoing client success.
- Manage operational finance and performance through weekly profitability reporting, margin improvement and cost-to-serve analysis.
- Drive process improvement, technology adoption, WMS optimisation and automation while embedding a stronger data-led culture.
Why this opportunity stands out
- Wide scope and real autonomy across operations, client success, finance and technology, with the authority to make decisions.
- A growth-stage business that is already profitable and continuing to scale, rather than a turnaround situation.
- The chance to shape the operating model, develop the leadership team and influence how the business is run long term.
- An executive package that includes base pay, a performance-linked profit share, pension and additional benefits.
Candidate profile
- At least 10 to 15 years of senior leadership experience in operationally intensive environments such as e-commerce fulfilment, 3PL, FMCG, retail distribution, or multi-site warehousing and logistics.
- Background as a COO, Operations Director, Supply Chain Director, Logistics Director or General Manager, with direct accountability for P&L and multiple sites.
- Experience building and scaling operations in founder-led or high-growth businesses.
- Strong commercial and financial capability, including comfort with P&L, EBITDA, unit economics and investment appraisal.
- Practical knowledge of warehouse management systems, KPI design and lean or continuous improvement methods.
- A leadership style that is hands-on, modest and commercially minded, with the ability to work effectively on the warehouse floor and in the boardroom.
- A relevant degree would be beneficial, although proven impact is more important than formal qualifications.
