Role Summary

The Chief Executive Officer is tasked with creating and implementing strategic and cooperative initiatives that enhance the hospital's competitive stance and foster growth in the market. This leadership position emphasizes strategic perspective and outward engagement to drive advancement of the hospital network, working closely with hospital management and clinical teams while cultivating relationships with current and potential community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading strategic planning and marketing activities for the designated hospital, incorporating guidance from hospital, regional, and divisional leadership.
• Providing oversight for operations and finances; consulting with hospital management and evaluating leadership effectiveness to recommend improvements.
• Enforcing hospital policies approved by the Governing Body thoroughly and consistently.
• Developing and submitting annual budgets demonstrating anticipated revenues and expenses.
• Collaborating with the hospital board, medical staff, and personnel to assess and respond to community healthcare needs ensuring quality medical services.
• Supervising hospital leadership on mission adherence, quality standards, compliance, productivity, and efficiency goals.
• Partnering with Human Resources and leaders to manage employee relations and reduce turnover.
• Conducting monthly operational reviews and reporting consolidated results for the assigned market quarterly.
• Ensuring safe upkeep and operation of hospital facilities alongside onsite leadership.
• Managing hospital business office functions to optimize financial resource use.
• Serving as the liaison between hospital and medical staff, maintaining active communication and representing the hospital externally.
• Performing additional duties as necessary to support the individual hospitals and the group as a whole.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficient with basic computer operations and common software such as Microsoft Office, including word processing and spreadsheets.
• Familiarity with JCAHO standards and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Strong understanding of budgeting principles, accounting, cost reporting, profit and loss, and adherence to budgets.
• Capability to collaborate effectively across multiple management teams within a multi-site environment.
• Excellent command of English in spoken and written form.
• Consistent and reliable attendance record.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 60% of the time for work.
• Ability to perform other necessary related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, or a clinical discipline is required; a Master’s degree in these fields is preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted as a substitute for formal education.
• No specific licenses or certifications are mandatory.
• Minimum of five years senior-level experience in healthcare administration or management within hospital settings, including operational management, human resources, and finance.
• Strong preference for candidates with prior experience in sales, marketing, and public relations.
• Completion of an Executive Fellow program is highly regarded and offers priority consideration.
• Experience overseeing multiple healthcare sites is advantageous.
• Graduate education or Executive Fellow program completion may offset experience requirements on a year-for-year basis.
