Role Overview

The Miami DDA is searching for a dynamic, collaborative, and goal-driven Chief Executive Officer / Executive Director. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this executive leader will steer the agency’s strategic vision, operational management, and overall organizational success. The role includes overseeing key functions such as business growth efforts, urban planning, marketing, financial stewardship, human resources, quality of life initiatives, technology adoption, and organizational strategy advancement, all with the purpose of sustaining Downtown Miami’s growth trajectory and long-range vision.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide forward-thinking leadership to implement the Agency’s strategic plan in line with its mission and priorities.
• Collaborate with the Board to set organizational objectives, track progress, and maintain transparency and accountability.
• Guide, mentor, and motivate a high-caliber team while nurturing a culture that values collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity.
• Manage the agency’s finances, budgeting processes, contracts, policies, daily operations, and enhance organizational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain strong connections with elected officials, business community leaders, developers, neighborhood groups, residents, and other essential partners.
• Lead economic development, business attraction/retention programs, placemaking efforts, marketing strategies, and branding campaigns that boost Downtown Miami’s competitiveness and global recognition.
• Act as the Miami DDA’s representative at gatherings on local, regional, national, and international stages, embodying a reliable ambassador for the area.

Qualification Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Economic Development, or a related discipline is mandatory.
• A Master’s degree in related fields such as Business or Public Administration is preferred.
• At least ten years of increasing responsibility in senior leadership roles, including experience dealing with Boards, government entities, elected officials, and funding sources.
• A proven track record in managing complex organizations, budgets, strategy rollouts, and uniting diverse stakeholder groups.
• Strong capabilities in leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship development.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is a significant advantage.
