Role Overview

We seek a Chemistry Technician who will carry out diagnostic chemistry and trace element assays within a busy veterinary testing laboratory. The role involves working with modern lab instruments such as Cobas Pure, Immulite, and ICP-MS to provide accurate diagnostic results critical for supporting animal health and welfare.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic chemistry and trace element tests accurately
• Prepare and handle samples meticulously with strong attention to detail
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments including Cobas Pure, Immulite, and ICP-MS
• Perform quality control assessments ensuring all results align with lab standards
• Record, verify, and report analytical data precisely
• Follow established laboratory procedures and contribute to quality management systems
• Keep the laboratory environment clean, safe, and organized
• Promptly identify and communicate any abnormalities or technical issues
• Collaborate effectively with the team to fulfill laboratory objectives
• Take responsibility for work quality and recognize the importance of reliable data for veterinary diagnostics

Qualifications and Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, Biological Science, or related field
• Previous laboratory experience, preferably in commercial or diagnostic settings
• Familiarity with quality-focused laboratory environments, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ISO 17025 standards
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all testing and documentation
• Excellent organizational skills and effective time management
• Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Preferred Skills

• Experience with sample preparation and routine lab methodologies
• Knowledge of using automated instruments such as Cobas Pure, Immulite, and ICP-MS
• Proficiency in analytical testing, result evaluation, and quality control procedures
• Good communication skills and ability to liaise within a multidisciplinary team
