Category Buyer

Role Overview

The Category Buyer is responsible for procurement activities focused on indirect goods and services essential to business operations, such as computers, software, consultancy, office equipment, travel, and maintenance. This role also covers sourcing of flexible workforce resources procured through Purchase Orders for both frontline and office-based staff. The position excludes procurement related to physical assets for the core logistics services and office real estate management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage product and service sourcing, conduct contract and bid processes, select suppliers, and negotiate pricing and contract terms.
• Process purchase orders, administer contracts, and oversee the receiving of goods and services ensuring supplier performance is effectively monitored.
• Drive purchasing efficiencies and optimize procurement workflows.
• Serve as an individual contributor applying specialized procurement knowledge while potentially mentoring junior staff, supervising workstreams, or managing procurement processes and programs.
• Operate independently within established parameters, solving problems using known methods and influencing tactical decisions related to sourcing and procurement.
• Support and/or manage day-to-day activities for employees and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience

Requires prior professional experience or practical knowledge through advanced education in procurement or related functions. The role values strong technical expertise, project management abilities, and the capacity to influence organizational sourcing strategies.
