Cafeteria Assistant

Role overview

Hellers NZ's Butcher is seeking a dependable and energetic Cafeteria Assistant to help run its staff cafeteria in Kaiapoi, Canterbury, about 15 minutes by car from central Christchurch. This is a practical, fast-paced position focused on serving quality food, keeping the area spotless, and supporting the Cafeteria Manager in day-to-day operations.

Work schedule

The position runs from Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm.

What you will do

• Coordinate food preparation and service so meals are ready for scheduled staff breaks.
• Prepare fresh sandwiches each morning.
• Keep food-handling standards consistently high.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and organised café and kitchen environment.
• Clean coffee machines and restock supplies during the day.
• Store food properly, with clear labels and dates, in line with food safety requirements.
• Ensure bench tops and staff fridge areas remain hygienic.
