CAD Designer

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding contractor in renewable energy specializing in commercial solar photovoltaic (PV), battery storage, and intelligent energy solutions in Southeast England, is seeking a CAD Designer to join their technical team in Orpington. This position offers an excellent pathway for junior CAD professionals, graduates, or college leavers to develop valuable technical design expertise within the renewable energy sector, contributing to commercial-scale projects in a dynamic and supportive setting.

Primary Responsibilities

• Create and revise CAD drawings for commercial solar PV and battery storage installations using AutoCAD.
• Support the team by preparing technical layouts, schematics, and design documents.
• Assist in maintaining up-to-date project drawings and documentation packages.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project standards in all drawings.
• Update drawings according to feedback from engineers, project managers, and site personnel.
• Coordinate with project managers, surveyors, and engineers to facilitate project completion.
• Contribute to site-specific design adjustments and general technical coordination as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Experience working with AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Meticulous attention to detail and precision in technical drafting tasks.
• Effective communication capabilities and teamwork skills.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• A proactive and positive demeanor with eagerness to learn and grow.
• Possession of a full UK driving license is preferred.
• Residency ideally in or near Orpington or surrounding areas.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary ranging between £25,000 and £28,000 depending on experience.
• Work hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Vacation: 20 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.
