Business Reporter

Position Overview

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is seeking a skilled Business Reporter to deliver insightful, accurate stories on financial and economic matters via radio, TV, digital platforms, and social media. This role is remote, with a preference for candidates based in Sydney or Melbourne. The reporter will craft content appealing to diverse Australian audiences across geographic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds while maintaining the ABC's editorial standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and report original stories that resonate nationally and locally, utilizing a strong network of industry contacts.
• Collaborate closely with editors and producers to brainstorm and refine story ideas.
• Conduct thorough research, identify credible sources, and execute interviews to gather information.
• Create clear, concise, and compelling reports across multiple media formats within strict deadlines.
• Edit audio content, including recording, mixing, and dubbing, to meet quality standards.
• Present news bulletins, live reports, and complex live sessions on-air.
• Assist with video editing and digital story production using desktop software and CoreMedia WCMS.
• Manage public engagement through enquiries, suggestions, and complaints, and maintain organizational scheduling tools.
• Ensure all content complies with ABC Editorial Policies and standards.

Candidate Profile

• Holds relevant tertiary qualifications or possesses equivalent experience.
• Demonstrates advanced skills in reporting, presenting, and creating engaging content across platforms.
• Exhibits strong editorial judgment and analytical capabilities.
• Possesses solid understanding of domestic and international economic, corporate, and financial topics.
• Passionate about issues impacting Australian communities.
• Has proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
• Maintains an established contact network within the Australian community.
• Committed to producing authentic, diverse content, inclusive of cultural and Indigenous perspectives.

Additional Information

This position offers a base salary between AUD 105,000 and 128,000, plus applicable penalties, overtime, and 15.4% superannuation contributions as designated by ABC.
