Business Intelligence Analyst (Excel)

Role overview

This is a remote contract opportunity for a Business Intelligence Consultant focused on using advanced Excel capabilities to organize, analyze, and present data that supports AI model training and business decision-making. The assignment calls for someone who can work independently, communicate clearly, and turn complex business questions into practical data outputs.

Compensation and schedule

The pay range for this assignment is $40 to $50 per hour. The expected commitment is 10 to 40 hours per week, and the work can be performed remotely from Canada.

Responsibilities

• Use advanced Excel techniques to structure, analyze, and present data for AI model training.
• Work with the client’s team to deliver business intelligence outputs and recommendations.
• Prepare, refine, and verify large datasets so the information remains accurate for AI use.
• Build and maintain BI workflows, documenting them clearly in writing and through discussion.
• Convert business questions into data-driven insights that can improve model performance.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and visual visualizations in Excel to support AI training efforts.

Requirements

• Relevant hands-on experience in business intelligence or analytics, with a strong Excel focus.
• Deep proficiency in advanced Excel functions and tools such as Power Query, PivotTables, VBA, and data modeling.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills for explaining technical findings to different audiences.
• Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision while managing time and deliverables effectively.
• Good understanding of business operations and the ability to convert business needs into technical solutions.
• Experience handling the cleaning, preparation, and validation of large datasets for analytics or AI training.
