About the Role
This position sits within Netflix’s Creative Innovation team, which explores the overlap between storytelling and emerging technologies such as AI, volumetric capture, and virtual production. The work focuses on how these tools affect production practices across the studio and the wider industry.
You will act as a trusted voice within the production community, learning what creative teams are truly trying to accomplish, which tools are genuinely useful, and where new technology creates friction instead of value. You’ll help create and lead discussions where practical production issues can be surfaced and debated, represent Netflix in industry groups, and turn what you learn into guidance that Studio teams can apply. A major part of the role is helping others understand when a technology matters, when it does not, and how to navigate change thoughtfully.
Netflix is looking for someone with real credibility in production, a clear point of view on where creative technology is heading, and the patience to help an industry through an early-stage transition from the inside out.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with production peers so you can understand creators’ real needs, identify which tools genuinely help, and bring on-the-ground production insight into Netflix decisions early.
- Plan and lead convenings, advisory sessions, and forums that bring filmmakers and production teams together to discuss real-world challenges and lessons learned, then translate those discussions into updated guidance, refined principles, and internal learning.
- Own the internal knowledge-sharing and education systems by converting insights from the production community into practical, honest materials, frameworks, and learning resources that help teams build true fluency.
- Represent Netflix in external industry conversations, working groups, and practitioner communities focused on generative production practices, listening carefully and bringing back useful intelligence while keeping Netflix’s perspective grounded in production reality.
What This Role Requires
- At least 10 years of direct experience in production, post-production, or a closely related area, with a deep understanding of how creative teams operate and what they need from tools. This is not a technology or product-focused position.
- Strong, proven credibility with filmmakers and production peers built through long-term work and dependable follow-through rather than affiliation alone.
- A belief that innovation takes time, plus the patience to listen, learn, and build trust with communities going through change before trying to influence them.
- Demonstrated experience helping creative or production groups move through change with confidence and less resistance.
- A clear and balanced perspective on creative technology, including the ability to separate hype from real value and say so confidently when needed.
- Excellent listening, synthesis, and communication skills across both creative and technical audiences.
- Experience leading or shaping industry conversations, workshops, or advisory efforts, with ownership beyond simple participation.
- Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, including labor and guild contexts, while staying true to your judgment and integrity.
- High standards of discretion when handling sensitive information and relationships.
Preferred Experience
- Background in evaluating tools or supporting adoption of new production workflows, with understanding of what it takes for adoption to scale.
- Experience working in international production settings or maintaining relationships across multiple regional production communities.
- Involvement in production education, mentoring, or knowledge-sharing work.
- Previous participation in industry forums, summits, or standards-setting discussions related to creative technology.
