Its platform is used by thousands of companies, including Venmo, SoFi, many Fortune 500 businesses, and major banks, and its network spans 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe. The company was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London, and Amsterdam.

Team and Role Overview

Plaid’s New Business team combines strong product and market understanding to introduce Plaid to a wider set of businesses. The team’s view is that modern fintech companies need best-in-class financial technology infrastructure to grow, compete, and deliver a better user experience. As a Business Development Representative focused on the FinTech segment, you will help identify and engage prospective customers across digital-first fintechs, neobanks, alternative lending platforms, and personal finance applications.

This position is suited to sales professionals with SaaS, technology, and/or outbound prospecting experience who can clearly communicate the value of Plaid’s API suite and the business impact it can create across growth, security, and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Account Executives on new-business efforts as part of Plaid’s go-to-market organization within the fast-moving fintech market.
  • Work with Marketing to share feedback on fintech-focused campaigns and help develop fresh outbound approaches.
  • Research target accounts and build pipeline through outbound campaigns directed at fintech founders, engineering leaders, and product decision-makers.
  • Assist prospective customers in getting started with Plaid and respond to technical questions about API integration into their existing systems.
  • Track new and emerging fintech themes, business models, and sub-sectors such as embedded finance, Web3, and alternative underwriting to uncover additional revenue opportunities.
  • Conduct organizational mapping, prospect individuals, create engagement, move opportunities toward Account Executives, run qualification conversations, and nurture early-stage opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in sales and/or pipeline development, ideally within SaaS, fintech, or a developer-first technology company.
  • Comfort leading high-level discussions with founders, product managers, and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to present Plaid’s value proposition and evaluate buying interest among fast-moving, digital-native companies.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
  • Persistent, resilient approach with the determination to keep pushing in competitive markets.
  • Experience using Salesforce.com or another CRM platform.
  • Background in customer-facing work involving technical products, along with strong interest in fintech, startup funding trends, and API architecture.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning deeply technical product details.
  • Interest in growing technically and mastering Plaid’s developer ecosystem, including Auth, Balance, Identity, Income, and Signal.
  • Ability to help build agile processes and tools in a fast-growing environment.

Compensation and Benefits

Plaid notes that additional compensation may be offered in the form of equity and/or commission, depending on the role. The company also provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
