Job description

About Devanture Technologies

Devanture Technologies is a Singapore-based engineering and technology company with operations spanning Singapore, Australia, and India. It specializes in automotive and embedded engineering, including TCU and connected-vehicle development, automotive embedded software, and selected embedded-systems projects. The company is building a focused engineering business combining strong technical expertise with disciplined commercial execution, now establishing a delivery center in Pune, India.

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and highly self-motivated Business Development Manager to drive Devanture's growth by originating and converting engineering opportunities across India and other selected international markets such as Singapore and Southeast Asia. This role requires an individual with deep experience within the automotive, embedded-systems, or engineering services markets, capable of independently representing the company, opening credible opportunities, identifying client needs that translate into engineering projects, qualifying leads, and managing the sales cycle through to closure.

This position offers a unique chance to design and shape the company's sales strategy and build its business development organization, with potential to grow into a sales leadership role as the business expands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities related to TCU, connected-vehicle systems, automotive embedded software, and credible embedded engineering or mobility hardware/software services.
  • Develop and implement account plans targeting OEMs, Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers, mobility/electronics firms, product companies, and engineering services buyers.
  • Leverage existing industry relationships and execute disciplined outbound activities to secure meetings and introductions with potential customers.
  • Identify and qualify engineering challenges, purchasing triggers, budget allocations, decision-makers, timelines, and competitive landscapes to differentiate actionable opportunities from speculative inquiries.
  • Lead initial discovery and commercial qualification phases, involving technical teams for detailed solution development when justified.
  • Coordinate technical proposals, scope definitions, cost estimates, presentations, and commercial submissions, ensuring timely follow-ups.
  • Manage the progression of deals through negotiation, contract signing, project initiation, and revenue collection.
  • Focus on developing market opportunities within India, while utilizing the Singapore presence to access regional headquarters and customers in Southeast Asia and other international markets.
  • Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and partner engagements; travel as necessary for qualified prospects.
  • Maintain up-to-date CRM records, track account intelligence, opportunity stages, next steps, sales forecasts, and lessons learned.
  • Provide structured market feedback to refine offerings, positioning, case studies, and sales materials.
  • Establish partner and referral channels that facilitate customer engineering program access.

Success Indicators

  • Development of a credible, qualified sales pipeline across automotive and embedded engineering sectors.
  • Securing at least one paying engineering customer within the first year.
  • Achieving a target of ₹1 crore in new collected service revenue during the first year, with a stretch goal of ₹1.5 crore.
  • Building a year-end qualified pipeline of roughly ₹35 crore supported by identified buyers, clear needs, realistic timelines, and agreed follow-ups.
  • Growing ability to independently engage customers in early sales discussions, efficiently involving technical experts as needed.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • 6 to 10 years in business development, sales, or account management roles within automotive engineering, embedded systems, electronics product engineering, or engineering services.
  • Demonstrable access to relevant customer organizations and an ability to translate relationships into concrete sales opportunities.
  • Proven track record of personally originating or significantly contributing to engineering services or technology sales through to commercial closure.
  • Working knowledge of embedded software and product engineering terms sufficient to conduct initial discovery and qualification.
  • Strong skills in customer communication, consultative selling, commercial judgement, persistence, and pipeline management.
  • Willingness and ability to work from Pune/Hinjawadi and travel for client meetings.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience working with automotive OEMs, Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers, TCU/telematics, connected vehicles, diagnostics, OTA/FOTA, vehicle connectivity, or related engineering fields.
  • Experience in selling from an Indian engineering base to international clients or regional headquarters.
  • Relevant networks or market exposure within Singapore or Southeast Asia.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical presales, engineering leaders, and delivery teams to shape proposals.
  • Engineering or technology-related education preferred, though commercial effectiveness holds greater weight.

Reporting and Working Relationships

This role reports directly to the CEO and commercial leader. You will collaborate closely with Devanture's TCU technical leads and engineering teams for inquiry qualification, solution formulation, and proposal development. The business development manager is responsible for market expansion and progressing deals, while technical and commercial approvals rest with senior company leadership.

Compensation and Benefits

The fixed annual salary range is ₹14,00,000 to ₹18,00,000, commensurate with experience, known market access, and track record. In addition, a performance-linked commission based on eligible collected service revenue will be offered. Approved travel and event expenses will be compensated separately according to company policy and business justification.
