Role Overview and Contract Details
This position involves conducting and recording scientific experiments with multi-disciplinary teams as part of the Bioprocess Centre of Excellence (BCoE) or site strategy, supporting both commercial and clinical product pipelines. The initial contract duration is 12 months, with potential extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory and project tasks under close oversight of scientists and project leads to support BCoE studies and investigations involving lab-scale upstream bioprocesses.
- Quickly assimilate and apply core scientific techniques and fundamental principles including batch, fed-batch, and perfusion processes.
- Troubleshoot routine experimental challenges by adhering strictly to SOPs and Biological Process Descriptions (BPDs).
- Ensure data integrity by producing precise, reproducible entries and maintaining lab quality through rigorous safety and procedural compliance.
- Conduct daily mammalian cell culture expansions, monitor bioreactors, perform sampling, and carry out in-process analyses with standard bioprocess instruments.
- Desirable knowledge: microbial cell growth and fermentation processes, plus downstream purification techniques.
- Complete assigned projects under supervision and share raw data with colleagues and project leads.
- Maintain meticulous laboratory documentation and ensure proper storage and archiving as per Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Contribute to upkeep and calibration of laboratory equipment with thorough record-keeping.
- Assist in assessing new laboratory equipment and technologies.
- Demonstrate teamwork and effective communication skills.
- Actively participate in sustaining and improving laboratory and workplace safety.
- Comply rigorously with all applicable GxP, SOPs, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), and other regulatory guidelines.
- Willingness to occasionally work outside regular office hours.

- Compliance with relevant GxP and EHS standards.
- Accurate and punctual preparation of technical reports.
- Effective and efficient communication with project leadership.
Education Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science or Engineering is required.
Experience Requirements
- At least one year of experience in the pharmaceutical sector or equivalent robust laboratory experience.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical regulatory standards and good manufacturing practice (cGMP) for biologics is necessary.
