Biology Tutor for GCSE Students

Position Overview

The Learners Collective is seeking a Biology Tutor focused on GCSE students, starting the week of 22nd February 2021. This role is conducted entirely online, enabling flexible remote work.

About the Client

The tutoring service partners with a Grammar School in the West Midlands to offer additional educational support to students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Role Description

The tutor will lead bespoke TLC Tutorials—intensive and stimulating sessions where one Scholar facilitates critical discussions among two students regarding subject content relevant to GCSE and A-level examinations. The format encourages students to develop critical reasoning and confidence through peer engagement and rigorous academic dialogue.

This approach specifically aims to empower learners from BAME and other underrepresented backgrounds by sharing personal educational experiences and equipping students with skills necessary for success in exams and future academic pursuits.

Working Hours

Tutors are expected to commit a minimum of two hours weekly, scheduled either from 8-9 am or 3-4 pm, depending on the subject.

Requirements

• Achieved A or A* grade in A-level Biology or higher.
• Experience with university tutorial or supervision systems.
• Must be a current university student or graduate.
• Valid Enhanced DBS clearance is required (assistance with obtaining this is available).
• Completion of TLC training prior to starting the role.

Compensation

The position offers an hourly rate of approximately £20.
