Role overview
TechOp Solutions International is hiring an experienced Benefits and Payroll Administrator to provide day-to-day support across payroll and employee benefits operations. This position is remote, but applicants must live in the DMV region: Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia.
Benefits administration
- Help manage employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, retirement, wellness, and leave offerings.
- Support new hire onboarding and ongoing employee lifecycle processes.
- Track compliance requirements tied to ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and other applicable federal and state rules.
- Assist in handling leave requests, including personal, medical, disability, and FMLA-related cases.
- Back annual filings required for benefits and compensation.
- Respond to questions from employees and managers about benefit-related matters.
- Help coordinate open enrollment, government reporting, 401(k) audits, and related projects.
- Support audit and compliance work, including Forms W-2 and 1095.
- Contribute to the creation and upkeep of benefits policies and procedures.
- Prepare and distribute benefits reports and statements.
- Review monthly benefit statements, reconcile differences, and help resolve any mismatches.
- Take on additional tasks and projects as needed to support the benefits team.
Payroll support
- Assist with semi-monthly and off-cycle payroll runs, including data checks and submission support under the Payroll Manager/Finance team.
- Maintain payroll records covering pay, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, and paid leave.
- Keep payroll documentation accurate to support audits, compliance, and internal controls.
- Help resolve payroll issues and discrepancies.
- Produce payroll reports and support audits and internal reviews.
- Work closely with HR to keep payroll-related processes aligned.
- Support payroll-related projects and handle other related duties when required.
Additional information
The compensation range provided is only an estimate and may vary based on location, relevant experience and skills, education, certifications, contract-specific needs, and organizational requirements. Final pay will depend on the specific facts of the hire and may not be at the top end of the stated range.
Compensation
Estimated annual pay: $50,000 to $70,000.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, business administration, or a similar field; equivalent education plus relevant experience is also acceptable.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting payroll in a multi-state setting.
- Prior exposure to ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
- Experience with SCA is an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of payroll tax rules, wage and hour laws, and compliance obligations at federal, state, and local levels.
- Experience handling employee payroll questions and fixing discrepancies.
- Strong understanding of benefits regulations and standard practices.
- Ability to stay effective in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and HRIS tools.
- Willingness to uphold company values.
