Position overview

For the Osnabrück area and surroundings, GSD Sicherheitsdienst GmbH is looking for Bahnübergangsposten (BÜP) on a full-time or part-time basis. The role focuses on maintaining safety where rail and road traffic intersect, especially at crossings where warning systems are out of service or where construction work is taking place.

In this function, you help prevent harm to people and damage to property by ensuring that crossings and track sections remain safe to use. The position comes with a short, focused training program so you can quickly get started even without prior industry experience.

What the job involves

• Safeguarding level crossings when warning equipment has failed or when work is being carried out at the crossing.
• Monitoring road traffic at crossing points and making sure road users observe the necessary precautions.
• Informing drivers about train movements, signaling approaching trains, and initiating traffic control measures when needed.
• Reducing accident risk by keeping both road and rail traffic flowing safely.
• Assessing situations quickly and accurately, then responding with the right safety measures.
• Coordinating closely with other safety staff and the responsible rail departments to maintain orderly operations.

Training and working style

You will receive a dedicated 7-day safety-post training course as part of the onboarding process, which prepares you for the duties of a BÜP. The company emphasizes a structured entry into the field, making this a suitable option for career changers from other industries as well.
