About Wing

Wing develops drone delivery as a safer, quicker, and more environmentally friendly way to handle last-mile logistics. As demand for instant delivery keeps rising, traditional delivery systems can be slow, expensive, and contribute to traffic accidents and air pollution. Wing operates highly automated delivery drones that move small packages from businesses directly to customers in minutes. The company designs, builds, and runs its own aircraft and provides drone delivery services across two continents. Its platform is built to integrate smoothly with existing logistics and delivery networks, creating a scalable solution for many business types. Wing is part of Alphabet, Google’s parent company, and its goal is to become the world’s preferred delivery method.

About the Role

Wing is hiring an Aviation Safety Analyst to join its Aviation Safety team. This position is based onsite in San Francisco, CA, and hybrid in Palo Alto, California. In this role, you will support the Safety Management System by helping teams meet SMS obligations and follow safety policies and procedures. Your work will span formal Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance activities, including data analysis, safety performance tracking, and incident investigations. You will connect operational data with practical safety actions so the right teams have the information they need to keep operations safe and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Study safety datasets to spot patterns and new risks, and create charts and dashboards that show how well operational controls are working.
  • Work with teams across the business to assess risk for new technologies, operating concepts, and proposed flight environments, then define hazards and effective mitigations.
  • Investigate safety reports and events in depth, using root-cause methods to identify what really went wrong and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review planned organizational or operational changes to confirm safety performance is preserved and no new hazards are introduced.
  • Work closely each day with Engineering, Flight Operations, and Flight Test to verify data quality and make sure risk assessments match real-world operations.
  • Assist with safety promotion efforts, including helping deliver safety training and preparing communications that share critical safety information and lessons learned.

Required Experience and Skills

  • At least 4 years of experience in a regulated safety setting, ideally in aviation or autonomous systems.
  • Strong ability to analyze safety data using both quantitative and qualitative methods and explain the story behind the numbers.
  • Solid understanding of SMS components and how they work together to support proactive safety management.
  • Experience leading risk assessments and clearly recording hazards and mitigations.
  • Working knowledge of safety investigation methods and the ability to identify systemic root causes.
  • Excellent written documentation skills and comfort working with technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Ability to adjust quickly as priorities change and handle several tasks at once.

Compensation and Benefits

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000 to $154,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary is determined by role, level, and location, and the recruiter can provide the exact range for the location during the hiring process.
