Role Overview
We are seeking an Associate Producer to support the daily production and distribution efforts of our multiple podcast programs. This position involves close collaboration with producers to prepare episodes, conduct quality reviews, and ensure timely delivery to audiences, while developing editorial judgment and growing responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate scheduling, manage projects, and oversee day-to-day workflows across shows to maintain production timelines and keep all parties aligned.
- Identify and source visual assets such as images and B-roll, ensuring proper usage rights and attribution.
- Conduct quality checks on episodes and assist with publishing processes across various platforms.
- Partner with producers to assist in post-production fact verification.
- Prepare advertising materials for hosts and video editors, supporting quality control of ad reads and placement within episodes.
- Collaborate with video and social media teams to produce and manage short-form clips, select compelling moments, and assist with distribution planning and quality assurance.
- Create show copy including titles and thumbnail text, and support thumbnail design when necessary.
- Monitor content distribution, promptly identifying and reporting any publication issues to maintain schedule accuracy.
- Observe livestreams during broadcasts to highlight significant moments and breaking news opportunities for producers and hosts.
- Contribute to promotional strategies by working with editorial, programming, and social teams to enhance audience engagement and growth.
Qualifications
- Between 1 and 3 years of experience in digital media production, particularly in operational and distribution workflows.
- Knowledge of video, social, and audio platforms with insight into audience engagement drivers.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, capable of managing complex and competing priorities.
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, and Illustrator; experience or interest in optimizing YouTube content and creating thumbnails.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment with stringent deadlines.
- Sound judgement paired with enthusiasm for expanding editorial responsibilities.
- A strong interest in politics, current affairs, and media, aligned with The Bulwark’s mission and cross-platform work.
- Effective communicative abilities and a cooperative, team-oriented mindset.
