Role Overview
The Assistant Director of Virtual Care Operations oversees a fully remote medical operation involving providers, nurses, medical assistants, and referral coordinators. This role is designed to scale the operation by building a robust structure, leadership team, and operational practices to support doubling the team size over the next two years. The ideal candidate combines clinical experience with operational leadership capabilities and is prepared for growth into a Director or VP role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and improve the performance and scalability of the virtual care team, including clinical and coordination workflows
- Build and mentor a management team to enable autonomous operation of day-to-day functions
- Design organizational structure, staffing models, and workflows to accommodate significant growth
- Collaborate cross-functionally with providers, contact centers, claims, and client success teams to ensure seamless and patient-centered care
- Use operational data and metrics to identify gaps and implement improvements in referrals, care coordination, provider experience, and member satisfaction
- Develop and standardize SOPs, training programs, and quality standards for consistent service delivery across markets and volumes
- Handle clinical escalations and complex cases requiring executive-level problem-solving and cross-team coordination
- Represent virtual care operations in leadership meetings by providing insights, forecasts, and strategic recommendations

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred in healthcare administration, nursing, business, or a related discipline
- Strong preference for candidates holding an RN license if bachelor's degree is not held; alternatively, advanced clinical licensure such as NP, PA, or equivalent leadership experience
- Minimum five years of healthcare experience, including clinical or clinically-adjacent settings
- At least five years of leadership experience managing managers, supervisors, or team leads
- Proven background in healthcare operations, virtual/telehealth delivery, care coordination, referrals, or provider relations
- Demonstrated success in scaling teams, workflows, or processes during fast growth phases
- Proficient in utilizing data dashboards and metrics to inform operational decisions
- Exceptional judgment and executive presence, adept at communicating with senior leadership
- Must be located in or able to reliably work onsite in Phoenix, AZ
Preferred Experience
- Leadership of telehealth or virtual care teams
- Familiarity with eClinicalWorks, CRM, or healthcare operational platforms
- Experience in designing organizational structures and staffing for rapid expansion
- Track record of promotion to roles of greater scope based on performance
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range: $75,000 to $95,000
