About The Organization

The Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA), established in 1891, is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and funding the varsity athletic programs of the United States Naval Academy midshipmen, aligning with the Superintendent’s policy. Position Overview

This role involves producing professional-grade video content for Navy Athletics across diverse platforms such as the website, social media, television, video boards, and live events. The assistant director will assist in planning and implementing content strategies for assigned projects under the guidance of the Director of Creative Content, coordinating with different departments to ensure integrated digital engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support storytelling and multimedia video production efforts throughout Navy Athletics.
  • Assist the Director in covering all 36 varsity sports extensively.
  • Provide help with video projects including filming administrators and staff interviews.
  • Help generate and maintain videoboard content within NAAA facilities and the Ron Terwilliger Center for Student-Athletes.
  • Create selected team introduction and promotional videos as directed.
  • Collaborate with Midshipmen videographers to film various sporting events during the year.
  • Contribute to social media management and the overall digital strategy of Navy Athletics.
  • Archive and catalog video footage, live streams, and broadcasts for designated sports.
  • Film and edit footage for Army-Navy Star Series home and neutral site competitions per assignment.
  • Abide by NCAA regulations strictly and report any potential violations promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or a related discipline.
  • Proven expertise in handling broadcast and cinema-grade cameras including Sony FX series, Canon C-series, RED, as well as mirrorless cameras suitable for on-the-go shooting.
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop), capable of producing highlight reels and social content under tight deadlines.
  • Preference for candidates with 1 to 3 years of experience in collegiate athletic media environments.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Understanding of live-stream operations, control room management, and capturing immediate social media footage.
  • Competence in operating gimbals such as DJI Ronin and various audio recording devices to maintain high production standards in dynamic environments.
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn unfamiliar sports and integrate into a collegiate athletic department.

Additional Eligibility and Requirements

  • Must have work authorization in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Clearance to work on military installations, including passing background checks.
  • Valid driver’s license is necessary.
