Role Overview

We seek an Analytics Engineer to establish and lead our data and analytics capabilities from the ground up. As one of the first dedicated data professionals, you will transform CurbWaste's data into actionable insights spanning operations, finance, and product domains. Collaborating closely with engineering, you will help build our data infrastructure leveraging tools like Snowflake and Sigma while proactively identifying and executing analytics initiatives that drive business decisions and prepare data for future AI enhancements planned for 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics to inform company-wide decision-making
Design and implement our data warehouse and business intelligence stack in partnership with engineering
Define key operational and financial metrics and develop data models to support them
Prepare and organize datasets for upcoming machine learning and AI-driven features
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, operations, finance, and engineering to understand analytic requirements and deliver insights
Create and uphold data quality standards and thorough documentation, laying groundwork for the future data team

Candidate Profile

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or Engineering with strong academic credentials
Advanced proficiency in SQL, capable of crafting complex, optimized queries and clean data models
Practical experience with modern BI tools; Sigma knowledge is a plus
Experience with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
Proficient in dbt and strong viewpoint on data pipeline architecture
Demonstrated persistence and adaptability thriving in fast-paced, evolving environments
Excellent communication skills to translate technical data into clear insights for non-technical audiences
Self-motivated and proactive, not waiting to be directed
Passion for mission-driven work focused on customer success and industry impact

Preferred Qualifications

Programming skills in Python or JavaScript useful for data transformation and automation
Familiarity with the waste, logistics, or industrial sectors
Experience preparing data sets for machine learning or analytics-enhanced product features
Background encompassing both operational and financial analytics

Work Location and Benefits

This position requires working onsite in New York City at least three days per week.
