About the internship

About the internship

Vandrevala Foundation is looking for a part-time, work-from-home intern to support its mental health crisis helpline. This role is centered on offering compassionate assistance to people in distress while learning practical counseling skills in a real-world setting.

The foundation has been active in mental health in India since 2009 and operates a pioneering 24/7 crisis intervention helpline staffed by psychologists with a data capture and retrieval system. Support is delivered through calls, chats, WhatsApp chats, and email, with video counseling planned soon. The organization handles more than 20,000 communications every month and provides interns and freshers with access to a strong clinical archive and knowledge base for hands-on learning, along with structured training and supervision. There are no direct or hidden costs, and the completion certificate includes a performance index page for foreign university requirements.

What you will do

  • Assess crisis situations and offer immediate emotional support to callers who are experiencing distress.
  • Use your understanding of psychology and social work to guide interventions and suggest appropriate referrals.
  • Keep interaction records accurate, complete, and confidential.
  • Work alongside a team of professionals to deliver high-quality support to clients.
  • Take part in ongoing training sessions and professional development activities.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in both spoken and written English.
  • Follow ethical standards and established practices in crisis counseling and mental health intervention.
