Overview
Join Glenorchy City Council as a Youth Employment Coach to support young individuals aged 15 to 25 in Tasmania on their path to meaningful employment, training, and education. This role involves coaching, mentoring, and connecting youth with career opportunities, working collaboratively with schools, employers, and community organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer tailored employment coaching and career guidance to youth aged 15-25.
- Help participants set and pursue clear employment, education, and training objectives.
- Provide job readiness assistance, including resume writing, application support, interview prep, and workplace skills development.
- Track participant progress and provide ongoing support after placement to ensure lasting employment.
- Represent the Jobs Hub at events, expos, and community engagements promoting youth career prospects.
- Collaborate with schools on programs that prepare youth for relevant industry training and employment.
- Link participants to internal and external training or pre-employment initiatives.
- Work in partnership with educational institutions, employment agencies, government bodies, and community groups to enhance youth pathways.
- Establish and nurture strong employer and industry connections to identify workforce needs and job openings.
- Partner with organizations to overcome barriers to youth participation and improve employment/training success.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced in supporting young people (15-25 years) within employment services, education, training, youth work, or community sectors.
- Deep knowledge of youth employment pathways, challenges, and strategies to foster positive outcomes.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement abilities capable of building lasting relationships with diverse partners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, adept at influencing various audiences.
- Competent at employing trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered methods to foster trust.
- Organized and self-directed, able to juggle multiple priorities, maintain detailed records, and achieve objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Credentials in Youth Work, Community Services, Career Development, Employment Services, Education, or related fields.
- Background in workforce development, recruitment, employment services, or facilitating school-to-work transitions.
- Familiarity with the Tasmanian youth employment, education, and training environment.
Position Details
- Fixed-term contract until 30 September 2027.
- Full-time commitment, 76 hours per fortnight.
- An annual salary of $87,161.49 plus 15% superannuation.
- Entitlement to a rostered day off biweekly (for full-time roles).
