Position Overview
This full-time, permanent role is located at the New Plymouth site and offers a competitive salary between $57,096 and $62,773 annually, depending on experience. The Workplace Administrator supports social work staff by managing administrative tasks essential to the delivery of statutory care and protection services across Hawera and surrounding communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage administrative support for Social Work staff, including assistance with financial plans, data gathering, and scheduling activities.
- Coordinate communication and liaison with vendors, casual workers, and various stakeholders.
- Engage with diverse cultural groups and individuals from different backgrounds respectfully.
- Handle logistical tasks such as booking meeting rooms, managing phone inquiries, and operating the reception desk.
- Organize welcomes and whakatau ceremonies for new staff and their whānau when needed.
- Maintain composure and professionalism when managing critical situations.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence (historic convictions considered individually).
- Commitment to supporting Health and Safety policies within the team.
- Proficient computer literacy and strong IT skills.
- Competency in administrative functions such as typing, reporting, and responding to site needs.
- Strong cultural awareness with understanding of Tikanga Māori principles and a dedication to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Effective time management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, adaptable to various audiences.
- Awareness and appreciation of cross-cultural protocols, particularly knowledge of Māori tikanga and Pacific cultural practices.
