About the Role
Mercor, in collaboration with a leading AI research laboratory, is developing advanced text-to-speech (TTS) technology designed to produce natural and expressive human-like voices. We are looking for voice actors based in the USA with African American English accents to provide high-quality voice recordings. These recordings will be specifically used to train and evaluate an AI-powered customer experience agent and will not be distributed, sold, or repurposed for any other applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Record clear and high-fidelity voice samples covering a variety of scripts including conversational, storytelling, and instructional content.
- Ensure speech is delivered naturally with expressive tone, controlled pacing, and precise pronunciation.
- Maintain uniform voice quality, accent, and style consistently across multiple recording sessions.
- Adhere closely to detailed technical guidelines relating to recording environment, microphone setup, and file formatting.
- Provide multiple takes featuring varied emotions, emphases, and vocal styles as requested.
Role Requirements
- Residence in the United States with a natural African American English accent.
- Demonstrated experience in voice acting, dubbing, narration, podcasting, or broadcast roles.
- Access to professional or near-professional recording equipment including a quality microphone, quiet recording space, and pop filter.
- Strong skills in intonation, diction, and conveying emotion through voice.
- Capability to follow scripts accurately while keeping delivery engaging and natural.
- Reliable availability for the entire project timeline.
- Consent to have your voice cloned for the specific AI customer experience agent project; recordings will not be reused or sold for other purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with recording for text-to-speech systems, audiobooks, interactive voice response (IVR) systems, or AI voice datasets.
- Familiarity with audio editing software such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, or Reaper.
- Ability to perform in multiple vocal styles including conversational, corporate, energetic, and calm tones.
