About the Role
Be a vital member of our Wellington-based team, engaged in maintaining and supporting critical transmission infrastructure throughout the Lower North Island, including regions such as Manawatū-Whanganui, Hawke’s Bay, and Wellington. This opportunity is perfect for experienced Transmission Line Mechanics who enjoy practical, outdoor work, traveling to rural and remote areas, and contributing to a skilled team that prioritizes safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, construction, and repairs on transmission towers and associated structures
- Install, replace, and string conductors, insulators, and related hardware components
- Inspect and upkeep earthing systems, foundations, and tower parts
- Work safely at heights across varying weather conditions, including climbing towers
- Provide support for planned maintenance tasks, emergency response, and troubleshooting faults
- Complete hazard reporting, adhere to Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and comply with stringent safety standards
Candidate Requirements
- At least three years of experience as a Transmission Linesman or Line Mechanic
- Possess EWRB Line Mechanic Registration for Transmission, or possess Trainee Line Mechanic Registration
- Strong technical knowledge and experience with high-voltage or transmission environments
- Readiness to work in rural or remote locations away from home
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, and producing quality workmanship
- Valid driver's license
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage ranging from $35 to $42, based on experience
- Standard workweek is 40 hours, with opportunities for additional hours
- Travel and accommodation expenses covered during out-of-town assignments
- Living Away From Home Allowance (LAHA) provided
