Role Overview
The Technician (RST) is tasked with executing both preventive and corrective maintenance on rolling stock equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. This position involves identifying and addressing disruptions in RST equipment under the guidance of the RST Shift Supervisor. The technician will also handle the movement of RST vehicles within the depot, including manual driving, shunting operations, safety checks, train coupling/decoupling, and secure parking.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs following directives from senior staff.
- Perform maintenance work according to established schedules and periodic plans.
- Prepare all necessary materials, tools, and workshop equipment for maintenance tasks.
- Document failures and submit reports through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Support the RST shift supervisor with assigned tasks.
- Operate specialized tools, measuring instruments, maintenance vehicles, and other equipment necessary for repair and maintenance activities.
- Conduct repairs to rolling stock assets while adhering strictly to technical documentation.
- Perform safety and operational inspections of railway vehicles before and after shunting procedures.
- Manage coordination and shunting operations for transferring trains between tracks or maintenance areas, either manually or using a shunting vehicle.
- Control power systems of trains, including HVAC and lighting components, during start-up and shutdown around shunting activities.
- Connect or disconnect railway vehicles to fixed/mobile 750V DC power supply units or charging systems.
- Drive emergency response vehicles on the service line during urgent rescue operations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Vocational training in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical fields such as electrician, wireman, machinist, mechanic for refrigeration and air conditioning, or machine tool maintenance mechanic.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years experience working in maintenance of complex technical systems.
- Preferably experienced in railway/metro rolling stock operation and maintenance environments.
- Relevant experience with metro train systems or service from contractors/sub-contractors (OEM) focusing on brake, HVAC, TMS, propulsion, door, bogie, and suspension systems is highly valued.
- Experience managing depot workshop equipment operations and maintenance is considered an advantage.
