Role Overview
The Technical Officer will report to the Shift Engineer and play a key role in maintaining the airport baggage handling system's optimal operation. This includes monitoring for faults, managing technician teams to respond to issues promptly, overseeing baggage diversion during breakdowns, and supporting both system troubleshooting and equipment maintenance schedules.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Shift Engineer on system-related issues.
- Ensure the baggage handling system operates correctly without disruptions.
- Monitor system faults and irregularities affecting airport baggage flow.
- Supervise technicians in performing their duties effectively.
- Coordinate quick technician dispatch to address faults.
- Manage baggage diversion promptly during system breakdowns to maintain flow.
- Provide regular updates and information on system faults to the Shift Engineer.
- Ensure appropriate personnel deployment during breakdown recoveries.
- Ensure completion of Corrective Maintenance (CM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules on time.
- Oversee the inspection, calibration, and safety compliance of equipment and tools used by technicians.
- Assist the Shift Engineer with system troubleshooting and updates.
- Support management in compiling reports and performing data analysis/statistics.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma in an engineering-related discipline.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to work in rotating 3-shift schedules and overtime as needed.
- Possession of a Class 3 driving license is advantageous but not required.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn and adapt.
- Ability to obtain clearance and airport pass screening by the Airport Police Division due to restricted area work requirements.
