About the Role
We are building an innovative synthetic biology platform aimed at engineering microbial cells capable of converting food waste into a variety of modular sugar polymers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, construct, and evaluate libraries of microbial strains to produce diverse sugar polymers.
- Develop experimental workflows and acquire quantitative data through measurements such as flow cytometry, omics technologies, and structural analyses.
- Work closely with Metabolic Engineering and Polymer Chemistry teams to enhance biosynthesis pathways for sugar polymers in production strains.
- Effectively communicate scientific methods and findings within the team as well as with external scientists, industry leaders, and academic researchers.
- Assist in creating and documenting intellectual property related to research outcomes.
Candidate Profile
- Strong enthusiasm for sustainability and environmental impact.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-moving startup environment.
- Doctorate or Master's degree in Biological Engineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of three years of research experience in either academic or industrial laboratory settings.
- Proficient in molecular biology techniques, genome editing, and microbial culturing methods.
- Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Experienced in quantitative data analysis.
- Additional skills in omics, analytical techniques, and software development are advantageous.

This is a full-time position based in Boston, MA, requiring onsite presence.
